  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Margaret Tucker was the only Aboriginal woman on the Welfare Board in Victoria (1963). She was also known as Lilardia, daughter of Queen Yarmuk and desendent of the Ulupna tribe of the Murray River District. In 1963 she was invited to Tonga by Queen Salote as part of a party of 12 Australians and New Zealanders for a royal command screening of "The Crowning Experience" (on the coronation of Elizabeth II). On her return she was photographed in the office of the NSW Aborigines Welfare Board, viewing a photograph of her birthplace Maloga (later Cumeroogunga).
