ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

The partnership of Thomas Nock and Herbert Kirby began on 20 November 1894. Nock & Kirby became a limited liability company in 1906. Norman Nock was head of the hardware firm, an Alderman and Lord Mayor of Sydney in 1939. Nock & Kirby Ltd was taken over by Burns Philp & Co. in 1983 and the shops renamed B.B.C. Hardware in conformity with Burns Philp's existing hardware chain.
