William Walker (1828-1908), arrived in New South Wales in 1837, was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court in 1852 and established the firm of William Walker & Sons at Windsor where he practised until his death in 1908. He was elected to the NSW Legislative Assembly for the seat of Windsor (1860-1869) and appointed to the NSW Legislative Council (1888-1908). In 1854 he became secretary of the Windsor Road Trust, established 1849. Walker was secretary of the Richmond Bridge Company for most of its existence. The Richmond Bridge Company was formed in 1857 to construct a bridge at North Richmond and ceased operations in 1876.
