  • Scope and Content
Portrait of Henry Paget, 1st Marquess of Anglesey (famous as the Earl of Uxbridge at Waterloo). It is based on an original whole-length oil by Sir Thomas Lawrence, exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1817 and now in the collection at Plas Newydd. Copies of the whole-length exist, including a replica at Apsley House. The man in this portrait wears a black silk stock at neck, white shirt with wing collar, a double breasted blue jacket with orders (incl. the blue riband of the Order of the Garter or the Order of St. Patrick, and the crimson riband of the Order of the Bath), medals and a gilt cord lanyard. He also wears a red-white-red riband of an unidentified order.
