Robert Clark Morgan brought the first settlers to South Australia in the Duke of York in 1836. While whaling in the Pacific he became interested in the work of the London Missionary Society in Tahiti and Samoa and subsequently commanded the Society's ships Camden and John Williams. He died in 1864.

1. Detailed instructions for a four-year tour, including three voyages through the Pacific from Sydney, transporting missionaries and supplies to the Society's mission stations, and collecting produce for sale in London. Signed by the Society's Foreign Secretary Arthur Tidman, London, 14 July 1851. Comprises 16 pages bound in half calf with bookplate of John M. Chapman.
2. Articles of Clerkship: R.C. Morgan and his son (son & grandson of Captain Morgan) with George Godfrey, Solicitor of Melbourne, 16 April 1874.
3. Miscellaneous material including newscuttings and correspondence mainly relating to the discovery of Captain Clark's grave in Melbourne General Cemetery, 1961-62.
