  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    In about 1909 Charles Norman Ireland was sent to the Solomon Islands to manage several plantations. During his time there he took a series of photographs which he developed himself and placed in an album. In 1916 he left the Solomons to join the Artillery in World War 1.

    1. Photographs copied from an album on the Solomon Islands:
    (a) Sancristobal native women.
    (b) Elu Estate - Guadalcanar [sic.].
    (c) Ugi-Sancristobal, the chief of the village, his 2 wives and daughter.
    (d) Returning Labour - homeward bound.
