    Boyes was appointed Deputy Assistant Commissary General in New South Wales in 1823 and arrived in Sydney the following January. He afterwards held several other government positions in Tasmania.

    Description of social life in Sydney 1824, countryside around Nepean River and of people he met including De Arrietta, Carl Ruemker, Sir James Jamison, Captain John Piper, Alexander Bacombe the Colonial Treasurer and William Lithgow, the Assistant Commissary General of New South Wales.
