    Rev. John Thomas was ordained in England in 1825 and arrived at Tonga in 1826 where he remained until 1850 working as a missionary for the Wesleyan Methodist Mission Society. He returned to England in 1850 and came back to Tonga 5 years later to continue his work

    Describes visit made by Thomas in the John Wesley to Samoa at the behest of the Australasian Methodist Conference to inquire about the mission work and to see if the natives desired the return of Wesleyan Missionaries to the Islands
