    John Grenville joined the Melbourne University DLP [Democratic Labor Party] Society in 1957 and the NCC in 1958. He was the Research Officer/Advocate for the Victorian Trades Hall Council from 1966 to 1969; Assistant Secretary of the Victorian Trades Hall Council from 1969 to 1971 and Federal Secretary of the Federated Clerks Union from 1973 to 1975. He resigned from the NCC and the FCU in 1975, and was an independent industrial advocate and advisor to small unions from 1976 through to his retirement.

  • Scope and Content
    Series 03 contains papers relating to the National Civic Council, its influences and activities in trade unions and its operation of front organisations. The files were collected in the period 1977-1992 in a series of investigations for the ABC. They cover material originally held by former senior members of the NCC, the unions it controlled and includes documents from a number of NCC-controlled or influenced front organisations.
