  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Paul Jones was a distinguished botanical artist. He studied at East Sydney Technical College and the Julian Ashton Art School before enlisting in the army in 1941. His overseas service included two periods in New Guinea. After the war Professor E. G. Waterhouse invited him to illustrate his publications Camellia Quest (1947) and Camellia Trail (1952). Jones’ major book, Flora Superba was published in 1971, the same year that he was awarded an OBE for his services to art. This publication was followed by a second major work in 1976, Flora Magnifica. In his later life Jones explored photography and developed a great interest in shells.

Jennifer Small is also a botanical artist.
