    Doris Jocelyn Brown (1898-1971) was an artist, author, florist and landscape designer. After establishing her own gardens in suburban Sydney during the 1930s and 1940s and writing and illustrating a series of articles on gardening for 'The home' magazine, she was commissioned to design several private gardens in Sydney and regional New South Wales.

  • Collection history
    Barbara Stockton wrote her honours thesis on Jocelyn Brown. She was given the plans in 1972 by a member of the Hamilton family, for whom Brown had designed a garden, and was subsequently unable to locate him to return them.
  • Scope and Content
    Plans and other drawings, reports and notes for five private gardens in the northern and eastern suburbs of Sydney, which were designed by Jocelyn Brown between 1940 and 1954, along with a 1989 newsclipping of an article about her work.
