  1 watercolour of the Moreton Bay chestnut plant showing green pinnate leaves, sprays of red and yellow pea-shaped flowers and seed pods.
  
  Caption label no. 1 on mounted board. "Moreton Bay chestnut, black bean. Castanospermum australe. Black bean was noted as a timber tree in Forest Reserve no. 16. 'This large Reserve contains one hundred and five square miles. The timber is of first-rate quality, consisting of about forty species of brush timbers and hardwood. The Reserve is well situated, and will furnish a large supply of timber in a locality where it is likely to be much required in a few years'. Surveyed by Carron in 1872".
