  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Edith Hope Lawson, born 1905, was the daughter of Peter Lawson, brother of the poet Henry Lawson. One of nine children, she worked at Lemaire Studios from 1923 to 1925 as a photographic colourist. After leaving Lemaire Studios, Edith completed study at Datillo Rubbo’s Art School. Edith Lawson died in 1964.

    Ira Quinlan (nee Garling) worked with Edith Lawson at Lemaire Studios. She believed that Edith had died aged 20, however research indicates she lived until 1964.
