Pearl Goldman, nee Schweig was born at Bondi in 1918. In 1937, she won the Bondi Surf Queen competition which brought her to the attention of the artist Norman Lindsay who asked if he could paint her. She became a central figure in several of his most famous works such as 'The Amazons', 'Imperia' and 'Gifts to Venus'. Pearl's career then developed as a fashion model, showgirl and actor. In 1946, she married Maurice Copolov who owned furniture stores in Melbourne. He died in 1967 and two years later she married Sidney Goldman, Vice-President of Radio City Music Hall in New York. She died in 2016.
