  • Scope and Content
    Items 1-3: Three military medals on a mounting bar.
    1. Left: Military Medal: For Bravery in the Field (silver). Obverse: effigy of the reigning monarch, George V, surrounded by the legend 'Georgivs V Britt: Omn: Rex et Ind: Imp'. The reverse has the inscription "FOR BRAVERY IN THE FIELD", surrounded by a laurel wreath, surmounted by the Royal Cypher and Imperial Crown. Impressed around the edge with the recipient’s details: '3805 SJT F. H. HAZELWOOD 45 / AUST. INF.' The ribbon is dark blue, with five equal centre stripes of white, red, white, red, and white. Awarded in 1918.

    2. Middle: British War Medal: 1914-1918 (silver). Obverse: effigy of King George V surrounded by the legend 'Georgivs V Britt: Omn: Rex et Ind: Imp'. Reverse: the dates '1914.1918' and male figure [St. George] on horseback trampling underfoot the eagle shield of the Central Powers, and a skull and cross-bones, the emblems of death. Above this is the risen sun of victory. Impressed around the edge with the recipient’s details: 'LIEUT. F. H. HAZELWOOD. A. I. F.' The ribbon has a wide central stripe of orange, flanked by two narrow white stripes, which are in turn flanked by two black pin-stripes, further flanked by two outer stripes of blue. Received in 1923.

    3. Right: Victory Medal (bronze). Obverse: winged figure symbolising victory. Reverse: inscription reads 'The Great War for Civilisation 1914-1919' surrounded by a laurel wreath. Impressed around the edge with the recipient’s details: 'LIEUT. F. H. HAZELWOOD. A. I. F.' Ribbon has a double rainbow design. Received in 1923.
