  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Lucio’s Italian Restaurant was an institution in Sydney’s culinary and art scenes for 40 years. Restauranteur Lucio Galletto moved to Australia from the Ligurian coast of Italy in 1977. He and his wife Sally first established the restaurant at Balmain in 1981, before moving to its renowned location in Paddington in 1983. Lucio’s passion for Italian cuisine, good service and fine art saw the restaurant develop into an awarded two-hatted establishment, as famous for its food as it was for the artworks that lined the walls, which developed through the friendships that Lucio built with the well-known artists and patrons who regularly visited. The restaurant closed in January 2021.
