Alice Healy (1873-1958) was born in Bowen Park, New South Wales, to Michael and Maria Healy. She was engaged as a governess by John and Mary McGrath to educate their 14 children in Parkes, New South Wales. Stephen McGrath was the eldest child, and eventually married Healy in 1905. They had three sons, Michael, born 1905; Leonard, born 1908; and Stephen, born 1912.

Hardcover scrapbook containing clippings, poetry, proverbs, and aphorisms relating to good character, friendship, courtship, and marriage. Also includes friends’ autographs and entries of answers to questions filled in by friends. The pages are decorated with stickers, pictorial cuttings of flora and people, including plant cuttings and a lock of hair.
