  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Thomas Vincent Carroll was the eldest son of John Carroll, deputy governor of Darlinghurst Gaol. He was a bookseller and managed the business of Angus & Robinson for several years.

    He later moved to Perth where he established his own bookselling business with John Dwyer. He also managed for several years the bookselling store of Wigg and Sons in Hay Street, Perth. His own bookselling firm was one of the biggest and successful in the Commonwealth. He died in Springwood, N.S.W. 30 March 1936, aged 76. (Source: 1936 'Mr. T. V.     Not working. Monogram of initials TC on front.
    Inside lid: near hinge '275', above near top edge '18K'.
    Inside back lid: near hinge '32 (?) 275/11', above at top edge 18K.

    Engraved on back of watch 'Presented to T.V. Carroll, Esq. by the staff of Messrs. E.S. Wigg & Son, Western Australia, in recognition of his just and kindly administration as their manager for the past 8 years, August 1907.'
