  • Scope and Content
    Claire Edwardes recounts her early upbringing, her introduction to music with piano and later percussion as a student at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She talks about her time in the Netherlands, studying on the Dutch Government Nuffic Huygens Scholarship, winning numerous instrumental competitions, forming a percussion duo and working closely with leading contemporary composers.

    Edwardes discusses in depth her return to Australia in 2006, including her co-Artistic Director role at Ensemble Offspring; composing and performing new works with the ensemble; receiving the AMC/APRA Art Music Award, 2019 and the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to music, 2022; performing with major orchestras in Australia and New Zealand; and her involvement in the Ngarra-Burria project, promoting composition and performances of music by Indigenous Australians.
