The home of Alston Balmanno Ferrie in Herbert Street on the slope of Red Hill. Ferrie was an auctioneer and the district agent on the main roads trust. He came to Gulgong in March 1871 and joined in partnership with John McDonnell as auctioneers and stock agents. The partnership folded and they went their separate ways, and their former store site was taken over by Samuel Samper for the Great Western Billiard Saloon at the corner of Bayly and Herbert Streets. -- Information supplied by Baldwin & Davis, Research Gulgong (Dec 2006)
