The Association of Australian Port & Marine Authorities Inc (AAPMA), which changed its name to Ports Australia in 2007, is the peak body representing the interests of port and marine authorities in Australia. It has been in existence in one form or another since 1916 when the first interstate harbour conference was held in Melbourne. In February 2009, Ports Australia changed its corporate structure and became a public company limited by guarantee under the Corporations Act 2001. Ports Australia’s mission is to provide leadership and support in areas of common interest related to ports, and to promote achievement of their trade facilitation objectives.
