    Ann Jennings was a close friend of the writer, Hal Porter and he dedicated his book of poems, The Hexagon (1956) to her.
    Hal Porter (1911-1984) was born in Melbourne and grew up in Bairnsdale, Gippsland. He was a versatile and prolific writer producing novels, plays, poems, short stories and three volumes of autobiography of which the first volume, The watcher on the cast-iron balcony, is the work by which he is best known. He won most of the major literary awards in Australia and in 1982 was made A.M.
  • Scope and Content
    Thirty six letters written by Porter to Ann Jennings in Hobart together with ten poems which he had sent to her for her opinion. Also included are copies of an exchange of letters between Porter and Frank Kellaway in 1960.
