    G. K. Townshend was a painter, illustrator and teacher. He served for three and a half years in World War I and drew cartoons for the trench paper, `Aussie' -- Encyclopedia of Australian Art / Alan McCulloch. Hawthorn, Vic. : Hutchinson Group (Australia), 1984
