  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Derek Llewellyn-Jones OBE, 1923-1997, was at the forefront of the movement for women to have greater choice in childbirth, and was a pioneer in speaking out about issues of sexual health. He was born in Wallasey, near Liverpool in England. He studied medicine in Dublin and practised there and in England before serving the Royal Army Medical Corpos in Malaya.

    For 23 years he taught at the University of Sydney as associate professor of obstetrics and gynaecology.

    Llewellyn-Jones was a prolific writer and author of the international bestseller 'Everywoman'. Among his many other titles are 'Every body: a nutritional guide to life', 'Everyman', 'Everygirl', and 'Eating disorders: the facts'.
