  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Brian McGahen was born in 1952. He graduated from Sydney University with a degree in Social Work and worked extensively in government and non-government welfare planning and evaluation. He was the first president of the Gay Mardi Gras and held this position from 1981 to 1985. From 1984 to 1987 he was an independent gay alderman on Sydney City Council. He was an active campaigner for social justice and liberty for all oppressed people. He died in 1990 after contracting AIDS.
