William Francis Sheahan (1895-1975), politician and barrister, was member of the NSW Legislative Assembly for the seats of Yass (1941-1950) and Burrinjuck (1950-1973). He held several portfolios in NSW Labor Governments from 1947 to 1965, and twice contested unsuccessfully the Deputy Premiership in 1959 and 1964. Admitted to the Bar in 1930, Sheahan was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1953. His son, Terry Sheahan (1947- ), now State President of the Australian Labor Party (NSW), was elected member of the NSW Legislative Assembly for the seat of Burrinjuck (1973-1988) following his father's retirement in 1973. - General note
