William Michael Davis was the adopted son of William Davis, a political exile who prospered and donated the land on which St. Patrick's Church, Grosvenor Street Sydney, was built. W. M. Davis was born in Sydney, educated at Hartley and Bathurst, went to the goldfields, became a merchant, was secretary of the Donegal Relief Fund, first secretary of the Australian Celtic Association, one of first Fellows of St. John's College at Sydney University and became headmaster of Blakehurst Public School in the 1890's. - Scope and ContentPapers include typed extract from diary of W.
