Gregson and Alexander Busby travelled overland to an area near Springsure in Queensland to establish a new pastoral property, 'Rainsworth'. In 1874 Gregson was appointed superintendent of the Australian Agricultural Company and held the position until 1905. In 1880 Gregson built a home at Mt Wilson where he pursued his interest in botany. His botanical specimins are preserved in the National Herbarium of NSW.[ref:ADB 4]
