Finola Moorhead was born in 1947 and grew up in Mornington, Victoria. She became a full time writer in 1973. In 1973 she won an unpublished writer's prize for the State of Victoria. She has been actively involved in the development of women's liberation and feminist issues. Her short stories have appeared in most Australian literary magazines and a number of anthologies. Finola Moorhead's published works include a collection of prose, 'Quilt' (1985), and three novels 'Remember the Tarantella' (1987), 'Still Murder' (1991) and 'Darkness More Visible' (2000).

Each collection relates chiefly to one of 3 main works, Remember the Tarantella, Still Murder or Darkness More Visible and each collection consists of mainly drafts of each work. Remember the Tarantella was written over 10 years and the various drafts develop and mutate extensively over the time period, likewise with Still Murder and Darkness More Visible the papers document extensive working and reworking of a basic idea that is eventually shaped into a final draft ready for editing by publishers. Each collection also contains other creative pieces, including her first unpublished novel Lots of Potential (Collection 03), and some business correspondence.
