Fiona McGregor was born in Sydney in 1965. She is a full-time writer who published her first novel, Au pair, in 1993 after it was short listed for the Australian/Vogel Award the previous year. In 1994 she published a collection of interlinked short stories titled Suck my toes, which won the Steele Rudd Award. She has also published a number of short stories in journals, magazines and anthologies, eight of which have been short listed in various competitions. In 1993 she was awarded a fellowship at Varuna and in 1994 she won an Australia Council grant.
