  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Esther Corsellis was born in Sydney in 1920 and lived most of her life at Pymble. She was educated at Ravenswood School for Girls, Gordon, NSW and the University of Sydney where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. She spent most of her working life as a librarian with John Fairfax Ltd. She was extremely widely read and had an abiding interest in the arts and culture, especially British literature and history. In furtherance of this interest she made three trips to Britain and Europe. In her later years she took up bookbinding and was a foundation member of the NSW Guild of Craft Bookbinders. She died in 1994. (See obituary, Sydney Morning Herald 30/7/1994).

    A. Diaries
    1934-1937; Diaries (26 Oct. 1934-12 Oct. 1935, 26 June 1936-23 May 1937) kept while attending Ravenswood School for Girls. Fellow pupils include Nancy Gill nee Holloway and Laurice Hinder nee Wood. (Call No.: MLMSS 6555/1)
    1953-1954; Diaries of a working holiday in England with tours to Scotland, Norway and Denmark. Also includes an account of a bicycle tour through France, Switzerland, Austria Germany and the Netherlands. (Call No.: MLMSS 6555/1)
    1975; Diaries of a tour of England, Scotland, Austria, Hungary and Greece.. (Call No.: MLMSS 6555/1)
    1986; Diary of a tour of the British Isles September-October 1986. Travelling companions were Nancy Gill and Brenda Fuller (the writer Brenda McBryde). Both volumes were bound by the author. (Call No.: MLMSS 6555/1)
