  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Caroline Ellen Moore, 1882-1956, actress, also known as Carrie Moore, was born on 31 July 1882 at Geelong, Victoria. At 13 Carrie was taken by an uncle to sing for J. C. Williamson and made her first professional appearance in December 1895 in Williamson's pantomime, Djin-Djin.

From 1912 to the end of World War 1, Carrie performed in vaudeville or variety and pantomime. Carrie Moore was one of the most popular principal boys at this time. One her most notable performances was in Messrs. George Willoughby Limited’s successful pantomime of Aladdin which toured Australian and New Zealand in 1914. Critics praised Carrie for her role as principal boy. It was a lavish production and included a ballet of beautiful girls. The pantomime included Grace Palotta as Koko, wearing one leg of her ‘knickers’ shorter than the other.
