  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Valantyne Napier is the Australian born daughter of Hector Napier and Dorothy Yvonne Cartledge, whose act of Napier & Yvonne, The Spider & The Butterfly worked the Tivoli and Fuller circuits between 1909 and 1929.

    Valantyne worked in Vaudeville, Variety, and Revue in Australia and internationally, in a single act of Valantyne Napier, and a double act of Vyne & Valantyne with Ted Weeks. Valantyne regularly performed as The Human Spider and this act translated into revues, variety, and pantomimes as Little Miss Muffet.

    Valantyne married Jeffrey Jones, resident stage manager of the Opera House, Cheltenham. In 1961 Valantyne and Jeffrey sold their English home and relocated to Australia.
