    Robert G. Barrett (1942-2012) was a popular Australian author of numerous books, most of them featuring the fictional Australian character Les Norton. He also wrote other single book stories. 'So What Do You Reckon?' is a collection of Robert's columns from when he was a columnist for the Australian People magazine. He sold over 1,000,000 books in Australia. He died 20 September 2012 of cancer.

    Robert G. Barrett literary and personal papers ca. 1990-ca. 1996 relating mainly to three books, ‘Between the Devlin and the Deep Blue Seas’ (1991), ‘White Shoes, White Lines and Blackie’ (1992), and ‘Guns ‘N’ Rose’ (1996) together with general papers of correspondence and research for Barrett’s books, miscellaneous printed material and photographs.

    Manuscript drafts (some typescript), fragments and unsorted notes together with an unmarked photocopy of the typescript for ‘Between the Devlin and the Deep Blue Seas’ (1991), manuscript drafts (some typescript) for ‘White Shoes, White Lines and Blackie’ (1992), including fragments, research material on the Gold Coast, and trial covers.

    Manuscript drafts (some typescript), fragments, unsorted notes, research material including prints of photographs of social clubs and a childrens detention centre, two versions of the typescript and a photocopy of the typescript, pages proofs and correspondence with Pan Macmillan regarding ‘The Day of the Gecko’, ‘Mele Kalikimaka Mr Walker’ (1994) and ‘Mud Crab Boogie’. Miscellaneous printed material, ephemera and photographs.
