  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Madeleine Anstey was a singer (contralto) who lived in Warwick, Qld and Sydney, NSW. During the 1930s she gave recitals broadcast on radio stations 4IP, 4QR and 2BL.
    Francis Harold Halls was born in South Australia in 1887. As a young man he won the Elder Scholarship for singing at the University Conservatorium of Music, Adelaide. In 1920 he travelled to Italy to train with singing teacher, Mario Pieraccini in Milan. He performed as a soloist at the Royal Albert Hall, London and in provincial concerts in England. Returning to Australia he toured extensively before settling in Sydney where he taught singing and continued to sing in public including performances with the Royal Philharmonic Society of Sydney.
