    Frances Rand (1960-) grew up on Sydney's northern beaches, studying at Brigidine College, St Ives, then at Macquarie University, graduating with a degree in communications in 1984. She is best known as the founding publisher of Lesbians on the Loose, which she also edited throughout the 1990s. These papers concern Rand's schooling at Brigidine and her university studies, but the bulk of the papers document her immersion in popular music culture of the 1970s and early 1980s, particularly ABBA
