William F. Megee was part owner with J. Corlis of the ship Resource. The Resource, under the command of Captain Nathaniel Pearce, had sailed from Providence, Rhode Island on a trading voyage and had put into Sydney before proceeding to Canton. - Scope and Content10 September 1799; The letter is written from 'New South Wales Sidney Cove" and is addressed to the "Gentlemen Owners of The Ship Resource". Megee reports his satisfaction with both the ship and crew. He also says that they have stopped at "Botany Bay" to take on wood and water and he was happy with the route they took because they avoided French pirates.
