Marie Byles was a solicitor, bush walker, mountain climber and conservationist. She expounded the teachings of the Buddha and was an original member of the Buddhist Society of NSW. For a time in the 1950s she lived as a hermit in the Himalayas and journeyed to Gandhi's ashram. She published several books including Footprints of Gautama the Buddha (1957) and The Lotus and The Spinning Wheel (1963). - Scope and ContentCarbon typescript of an unpublished book about Gandhi with an introduction by Maude A. Roydon. It includes manuscript annotations and corrections.
