  • General note

Raising money for the World War I charity "Every Tommy's Sister - circle of war workers". On leave, Charlie Bridge would lay the flag on the footpath whilst young Irma recited poems such as "It's only an old bit of bunting,/It's only an old coloured rag,/Yet thousands have died for its honour/And shed their best blood for the flag." People threw their money on the flag and what was collected was used to help servicemen. [See Marion Scott, The Quipolly Valley, Quirindi & District Historical Society, 1985] - Quirindi, NSW
