Ronald Leslie Gale, a former international trade consultant, was born at Gunnedah, N.S.W. in 1928. During the late 1970s Gale was involved in trade initiatives between Australia and China, and between Australia and Korea. He was vice-president of the Australia-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and president of the Australia-Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The collection was assembled by Gale during his extensive travels in Asia in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

This collection follows the arrangement by Ronald L. Gale. Ronald L. Gale's detailed listings/inventories of his collection have been annotated with location numbers and placed at MLMSS 6631/1X and MLMSS 6631/10X.
