Leonard Lye established his career in the late 1950s and 1960s, working with the National Theatre and the Elizabethan Theatre. He was invited to join the Australian Opera Company at its inception, but decided to become a Teacher of Singing. He studied in Springwood, New South Wales, with George McNeilly. The videotape shows children singing at a school function, Leonard Lye playing the piano, walking in his garden, and talking about his life. The videotape was made by one of his students, Janine Taylor, of Lawson, New South Wales
