  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Richard Leplastrier (1939-) studied at the University of Sydney and completed his Bachelor of Architecture in 1963. He studied and worked in Japan from 1966-1968 and has been in private practice in Sydney since 1970. Leplastrier taught at the University of Sydney from 1970-1996. In 1999 he was awarded the Royal Australian Institute of Architect's Gold Medal for life services to architecture, and in 2004 won the Spirit of Nature Wood Architecture Award.
  • Scope and Content
    The collection consists of 715 architectural drawings (plans, sections, elevations and perspectives) and associated manuscript items. The collection includes new residences, alterations and additions to existing cottages, drawings of boats, collaborative works and competition entries. There are various projects represented including the Sussman house at Cammeray, the Domicelj house at Leura, the Sixel Miller house at Watsons Bay and the architect's own house at Lovett Bay. The drawings were executed by Richard Leplastrier or architects working directly under his supervision, as indicated in the contents lists.
