  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Gay Kalnins' (b. 1940) was typesetter and graphic designer for Propaganda Goose in Glebe, Sydney.
    In 1967, she married John Indulis Kalnins and had a son Yanis Kalnins. They divorced in 1982.
    From 1973, she was involved in publishing newspapers, social and political magazines, brochures, posters, flyers, newsletters and some books. Gay contributed to Filmnews before they moved to laser printing and desktop publishing in 1990.
    Gay was actively involved in environmental and political issues in inner Sydney.

    Correspondence with politicians, petitions and printed material relating to her involvement in social, political and environmental activities and campaigns in inner Sydney, ca. 1980-1992, like Australian Labor Party (ALP) membership, ‘Party in the Park’ fundraising event for the NSW Green Alliance and welcome back concert for Brian Mooney. Includes copies of newscuttings, flyers and brochures

    Community Independents Day Message Book, ca. 1987, with letters, working paper and political brochures relating to the need for a new progressive political party of the left
