This guide represents a listing of approximately 37% of the total collection of plans by Stuart Bros for buildings, mostly in the Sydney metropolitan area, 1893-1975. There are about 6,000 plans described, 45% of which are commercial buildings, 38% are industrial, 13.5% are residentail, and the remaining 3.5 % are threatres, clubs, churches, schools, universities and hospitals.
The Stuart Bros collection was presented to the Faculty of Architecture, University of Sydney by Mr Alex Stuart, Managing Director, in 1981. In November 2004 the collection was transferred from the Faculty to the original owners of the collection, Lucas Stuart Pty Ltd, the successors to Stuart Bros Pty Ltd. -- ML 461/92
