  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Sir Henry Parkes (1815-1896), politician and journalist, was born on 27 May 1896 in Warwickshire, England. In addition to being a N.S.W. Colonial Prime Minister he served several terms as Colonial Secretary and Registrar of Records -- Australian Dictionary of Biography, Vol. 5, Melbourne University Press, 1974.
  • Scope and Content
    1868-1889; Official documents and letters received relating to Henry Parkes' appointments to various offices in New South Wales, including Member of the Executive Council, Vice-President of the Executive Council, Colonial Secretary and Registrar of Records (1866-1889). Also includes documents relating to his investiture as K.C.M.G, 1 May 1887 and G.C.M.G, 28 Jan. 1888. (Call No.: *D 40)
