  • Scope and Content
'Descendants of Rowland Hassall, 1798 to 1947', an oversized manuscript volume recording births, deaths, and marriages of Hassall family descendants in genealogical charts, including an index of surnames of descendant families. The volume also contains manuscript and typescript addenda attached between 1953 and 1982, recording further details of descendant families. The 'Record' does not always include dates. The volume is inscribed 'This Record of the Descendants of Rowland Hassall from 1798 to 1947 was compiled from information obtained from members of the various families descended from him, and no responsibility is accepted by me for the accuracy or inaccuracy of the names and/or relationships shown herein.' There is a note stating that ' A number of marriages and births to December 1952, have been included in this Record' and an acknowledgement that 'This copy from my original manuscript Chart has been executed by James Macquarie Antill to whom I express my deepest appreciation', signed by W. D. Adye Campbell. Descendants include the Antill, Campbell, Hebblewhite, Hope, Lawry, Oakes, Shelley and Smith families.

Photographic copy of a portrait of Elizabeth Hassall and a photographic copy of a photograph of an unidentified man previously thought to be Rowland Hassall are on the front inside cover.

One quarterly ticket from the Methodist Society dated 1822, signed by Ann Hassall and W. Lawry, is pasted into the volume opposite the first genealogical chart of Rowland Hassall and Elizabeth Hancox.
