Born Anne Margaret Parry to Gwilym Parry and Edina Spencer in 1931, Anne renounced her middle name and changed her name to Anne Spencer Perry in 1977. She attended Hornsby Girls' High School, completing the Leaving Certificate in 1949.

At the age of 18 Anne married Anthony Vane Walker but the couple divorced in 1976. They had three children, Brian, Peter, and Gwilym.

Parry gained a B.A. from the University of New South Wales and became a psychotherapist in private practice in Sydney. From 1975, Anne Parry was a partner with Marjorie Pizer in Pinchgut Press, which published her novels in the fantasy series The Land Behind the World. She also collaborated with Pizer in Below the Surface: Reflections of Life and Living, published by the Press in 1982.

She died of cancer in 1985.
