Scott and his family left New South Wales on the Portsmouth, and arrived in England in June 1792.

  • Collection history
Sir William Dixson had acquired the manuscript from Angus & Robertson Ltd at an unknown date, probably between 1899 and 1910. It came to Angus & Robertson from the executors of the estate of Miss Russell, believed to have been the granddaughter of John Russell, private Marine, who travelled with the First Fleet on board the Friendship. The precise connection between Scott and Russell is uncertain as Scott makes no mention of Russell in his journal.
