    Glenrock Cottage was built in 1836 for Thomas Smith. John de Villers Lamb (1833-1900) married Henrietta Octavia Smith (1839-1914), daughter of Thomas Smith in 1859, their first child Emma was born in 1860.

    "To Arthur Dowling from Fr. O.M. Rothery, 24 VIII 15. "Glen Rock" Darling Point, one of the old residences of Sydney, taken when John de V. Lamb lived there. It shows John Lamb; Mrs John Lamb & her first child in her arms; Mrs Thomas Smith (Mrs J. Lamb mother) and old John the gardener. The vacant land at the back of the picture shows the land at back of Glenmore Road towards Paddington and is now (in 1915) densely populated." -- on reverse
