The Duncan Dunbar left Plymouth on 2 September 1865 with passengers and cargo for Sydney. On the 7 October she was wrecked on the reef Las Roccas off the coast of Pernambuco, Brazil. All on board were saved. Among the passengers were Maria Louisa Hudson, Eliza Hudson, B. Hudson and George Thornton, a former mayor of Sydney. - Scope and ContentEliza Hudson's Bible which was saved from the wreck; a manuscript account of the wreck (with rough transcription of part of account); 2 hand drawn maps of the wreck site; newscutting containing two letters praising the actions of George Thornton following the wreck.
